英国留学入学考试大盘点之TSA

Thinking skills assessment 简称TSA。

是三所英国高校用来检测学生思考能力的入学考试，但是牛津大学是运用最频繁的。

TSA 有三个版本：

TSA OXFORD

TSA CAMBRIDGE

TSA UCL

这三个版本分别适用于的专业：

TSA Oxford: 

• Economics and Management 经济管理

• Experimental Psychology 实验心理学

• Human Sciences 人类科学

• Philosophy and Linguistics 语言与哲学

• Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) 政治，经济&哲学

• Psychology and Linguistics 语言与心理学

• Psychology and Philosophy 哲学与心理学

TSA Oxford S1（section 1）:

• Chemistry (F100) 化学

• History and Economics* (LV11) 历史与经济

TSA Cambridge S1 (section 1): 

• Land Economy 土地经济

TSA UCL: 

• European Social and Political Studies (ESPS) 欧洲社会政治学

• International Social and Political Studies (ISPS). 国际社会政治学

【考试内容】

TSA 是总时长为两个小时的入学考试，分为两个部分：

1. 部分1: Thinking Skills Assessment (TSA)

2. 部分2: 写作任务

第一部分为 50 道的选择题，共时长90分钟。（需要在答题卡上填写答案）

第一部分会基本上考两大种题型；

critical thinking批判性思维& problem solving 解决问题的能力

critical thinking批判性思维

主要是考学生对于文字，段落的理解;

题目中会有一段文字，考生们需要在阅读完这段文字之后，分析并回答下面的一道问题

Example: （specimen paper Q1）

Every motorist pays the same amount for road tax, regardless of how much they use the roads: someone who covers as little as 1 000 miles pays the same as someone who covers 20 000. This is unfair. Road tax should be scrapped and the money raised by an increase in the tax on car fuel. Making this change would ensure that those who use the roads more would pay more. This would not only be a fairer system, but could also bring in more revenue.

Which of the following best illustrates the principle underlying the argument above?

1. People should receive free medical treatment only if they cannot afford to pay for it. 

2. People who travel to work every day by train should pay a lower fare than those who travel only occasionally. 

3. People who earn more than double the average wage should be made to pay much higher charges for dental treatment.

4.  Television channels should be paid for by subscription so that only those people who watch them should be made to pay. 

5. Telephone charges should be higher for business customers than for domestic customers because they are using the system only to make money.

（正确的答案：D）

答案解析：这段文字主要的观点是，开车越频繁的人应该付更多交通税。也就是用一样东西越多的人就应该付更多的钱。因此排除 A&B&E.  

C的理论是赚的钱越多的人，应该付越贵的牙医费。跟文字中表达的观点也不太一致。如果C 是看牙医越频繁的人应该付更贵的牙医费，那么C 也可以是正确答案

D是唯一的正确答案。

problem solving （解决问题）：

是考验学生数学思考能力，

problem solving 没有固定的题型，主要是考图表/计算。

下面是小编找到的另一道练习题，大家可以试一试；

第二部分为时长三十分钟的写作任务。

同学们需要从四个题目中选一个来写，所有题目都不需要特定专业相关的知识。

例题：

1 When, if ever, is forgiveness wrong? 

2 Should parking fines be based on the driver’s income?

3 "The cause of gender inequality is in the hands of men, but the solution is in   the hands of women."  Do you agree?

【考试难点】

小编觉得TSA 的难点有两个；时间不够&英语能力不够

1.TSA给每个人的时间是非常短的，如果没有特殊的训练，一般人第一次都没有办法答完所有的题目。

所以要备考的同学们要记得计时练习哟。

（温馨提示，练习的时候也要记得留涂答题卡的时间哟）

还有一个小小的考试技巧-- 练习题目的时候，一定要留下几套题目。临近考试的时候做，有助于反映真实的水平哦。

2.有另外一部分人是因为英语，所以觉得TSA比较困难。

TSA 是一个要求英语能力较高的考试，基本上所有的题目都包含着大段的文字。英语不好的同学们，考试之前也要找方法来克服。
