很多同学第一次看到这个单词的时候，会认为moment变成了形容词，直接翻译成“瞬间的”，但这个单词准确的意思是“重要的，重大的”。其实moment本身还有importance in influence or effect的意思，所以自然momentous的意思就是“重要的”。
还有两个单词意思是“重要的”：
Measurable一般学生只能想到“可测量的”。
Consequential一般学生只能想到“结果的”。

Volv词根的意思是“卷，转”，e-作为前缀意思是“出”，合起来及物动词evolve意思是“通过自然进化进程产生，发展，演变”。同义词：develop，elaborate，unfold。
