Task1

Some people like to celebrate their birthday or holidays with large gatherings orparties, Other people prefer to celebrate in quieter ways alone or with just a fewpeople. Which do you prefer? Explain why.

Task 2

Reading

Get Rid of Food Carts

Listening

Task 3

Shared-Cost Effect(分摊成本效应)

Reading

Listening

所以在旅游景区的酒店,宣发重点在how affordable their hotels are。

但如果酒店位于商务出差需求比较多的商务繁荣的区域,比如 a woman is travelincfor business,公司会 cover the bill,她在选择酒店的时候,如果这个酒店强调的是诸如fast internet, large desks, place where guests can print documents 这些 amenities的话,这个 woman就会选择这家 hotel了。因为她关心的只是 whetherthis hotel can help her get the work done easily.

Task 4

1.禁止捕捞螃蟹,影响蟹民生计;

Your professor is teaching a class on education. Write a post responding to theprofessor's question.

In your response, you should do the following.

-Express and support your opinion.

-Make a contribution to the discussion in your own words.

An effective response will contain at least 100 words.

Doctor Diaz

Some educators think that in our global, tech-oriented world, students need to focus on nonfiction texts, such as news stories, technical manuals, or other informational materials. They say that reading poetry, novels, and short stories is not the optimal use of the limited time that students have in the classroom. How do you view this approach to education? Should schools limit the teaching of fictional texts in favor of teaching more practical, nonfiction texts?

Andrew

Education has to evolve. Nowadays there's an enormous amount of economic and political data freely available online. lt's important that students can evaluate this information to understand local and world events in order to be good citizens. Reading fiction is a wonderful hobby but school should prepare, students for adult life and its responsibilities.

Claire

I spent a lot of class time in high school analyzing literature. I'm studying to be an engineer, so l admit that reading fiction in school was not directly applicable to my future occupation, but it did instill in me a love of reading, which is very valuable. I feel better equipped now to understand all sorts of written material.‍
